How I Almost Screwed Up My Face

 |

Sometime last year, I wrote about how I wanted to ween of makeup. So I spend over 90 SGD on facial products in attempt to fix the blemishes and imperfections i.e. enlarged pores, oily skin, blackhead etc.

Months later, it worked! I was glad to be able to walk out of the house without nothing on my face - well, except eyeliner. (this is the only thing that it's really hard to ween off). But hey! That's some really good effort right?

Then some time later, a friend told me that as a biker chick, I should not expose my face to the elements of the weather (and exhaust). Instead, I should put sunblock (which I agree), or if not a BB cream that has multi-functional features like sunblock, moisturizer, oil-control, concealer etc.. She then went ahead to recommend some brands, some of which I've never heard before.

So off to Watson's I went, in search of some BB cream that she'd mentioned. But because I'm a sucker for nice packaging and since the BB Cream by Bio-essence looks the nicest, I bought that to try.

The first time I tried it, I was actually quite disgusted. The texture reminded me of concealer mixed with moisturizer - sticky and a little oily. But I thought that perhaps, this product is good for my skin and I should get used to it.

Little did I know, pimples started popping up days after!

Disappointed of it's effects, I stopped using the BB Cream immediately and decided to salvage my face back to its original state - smooth, natural, and un-oily skin - with the help of lots of pimple cream of course.

After which, I googled the effects of BB cream for people with oily skin and realized its unsuitability.

Sigh.. oh well that's ok. Guess au naturel is still the best. At least that's the comfort I have for knowing that I no longer have to contribute to the skincare industry that much anymore.
