Whilst eating, I realized that even when it comes to the simplest food - Porridge (besides Instant Noodles), I am one helluva fussy-pot!
I enjoy thick, starchy porridges with soft potatoes, baby carrots, threads of egg and little colonies of mince meat. Sad to say, this porridge, is really much catered for babies or toddlers. Still, that doesn't mean a 20 year old can't eat baby food right?
Unfortunately, not many people like starchy porridges, or rather, my kind of porridge. Most like Teochew Porridges, which for my taste and preference, is really too watery and diluted or Cantonese Porridges which still isn't starchy enough for me.
Even for those normal porridges sold in Hawker Centers that usually come with minced meat, You Tiao (also know as Chinese Cruller), and Century Eggs are either too salty or still, not starchy and 'thick' enough.
And so, I miss eating baby starchy porridge. I wished I could learn how to cook that simple dish and probably so, eat that for as long as I want!
