Kite Rescue Mission

 |

It has been about 3 weeks since my penguin fly flew away.

Ever since then, I've been thinking of it and no matter how many kites I've seen so far, my mind, heart, and soul still insist on getting another penguin to replace the one that I've lost.

So on Sunday afternoon, Dear, myself, and our friend – CS went back to Seng Kang field to look for the kite selling uncle. Apparently, he's the sole distributor of the penguin kite that I like, because I don't see anywhere else selling it. Pfffffttt!

To our dismay, the kite selling uncle wasn't there when we arrived. So we lay the ground sheet and dear crumbled into slumber almost instantly. Well, sleeping is his past time.

Soon, the uncle arrived and I was able to purchase my desired Penguin kite. Unfortunately, this Penguin kite doesn't look the other one that I lost. The body area is yellow instead of white. Sheesh!

At least that's better that nothing! After making my payment, dear and I began our kite flying session!

About an hour or so, our other friends – Jo, Zack, and Val their dog arrived. Love this picture!

Unlike previous kite flying sessions that have been relaxing and fun, it was filled with fear, excitement, and overwhelming relief.

..

This was what happened:

Dear lifted up his thigh, forgetting that the kite reel was underneath. In just a few seconds, the reel started flying away and I was stumped and shocked for a moment before my brain told my legs to run after it.

So I ran, and ran, and the kite reel (with the kite) flew further and higher..

After running for a distance and praying for the kite to somehow land lower so that I can at least jump and catch the reel, the kite flew towards the block of flats opposite the field.

Miraculously, there was a man who was closing his windows when my reel flew close to his flat. I quickly shouted "Hey! Please help! Help me grab hold of the reel!"

Thank goodness for his quick reflexes, he quickly grab hold of the reel that was hovering near his window (on the 8th floor) and I was overwhelmed with instant relief and joy.

...

What a fun, exciting, and action packed day! Thank God for that man who saved my kite, if not I would have lost my new penguin kite AGAIN!
