Weighing slightly over 200kg with a 398cc engine capacity and having a two-cylinder four-stroke liquid-cooled V-type valve engine, Stevie is my newest purchase.
Believe me, I wasn't intentionally looking to buy a Class 2A Bike (motorcycle between 201cc and not exceeding 400cc). I was just casually looking through the Bike Forums on the same afternoon as the day that I passed my Class 2A TP test when I saw an ad that was posted for a Honda Steed on the same day as well! Coincidence?
Curious, I clicked on the link, looked at the price of the sale, scrutinized the images of the motorcycle that the owner has uploaded, and decided to drop the seller an sms to view the motorcycle.
3 days later on a bright and humid Sunday afternoon, dear, myself and our friends met up with the seller for the bike viewing. Dear took a test ride first, followed by me, followed by another of our friend. After which, we started to talk about the most sensitive issue - the price.
So basically, we decided on a tentative price, but wanted to have a second meeting with the seller at my usual trusted bike mechanic so as to inspect for further "damages" that would require additional repair costs.
The next day, we met up at my bike mechanic's workshop as agreed. Despite the rain, my mechanic was able to give it test ride and true enough, he spotted a pretty important "damage" which would cost quite a sum for repairs.
As such, I renegotiated with the seller with regards to the price and we finally settled at a price that we both were agreeable with. After which, I went over to get my insurance done for Stevie, before heading to LTA with the seller to transfer ownership.
As dear and I are pretty anal about safety, we decided to give Stevie a full servicing which amounted to quite a hefty bill. Regardless, what needs to be done has to be done. Safety should never be compromised. Hence Stevie is currently at my bike mechanic for a full servicing across a span of 2 days.
Gee. I can't wait to get Stevie back and embark on a new riding chapter with him! *rubs my hands with glee*
