Indian Food & Meatballs

 |

My taste-buds were very courageous this weekend.

You see, despite the fact that I'm living in a country which is known for its wide diversity of ethnic food, I have never tried food Indian food.

I know, it's embarrassing to admit. But this week, I finally gave Indian food a try and gosh it is so tasty!

Arriving at Phoenix Indian Restaurant, I was surprised to find that this Indian Restaurant is unlike the typical Indian eateries I've seen.

Tucked in little corner of Phoneix Road, Phoenix Indian Restaurant is very modern looking, with ethnic decorations and designs on the wall and ceiling to reflect its ethnic culture. With air-conditioning and a chic ambience, I quickly found myself to like this quiet and cosy eatery!

As dear and I know nuts about Indian food, our friends ordered on our behalf, after checking out the kinds of food that we like i.e. Fish, Chicken, Spicy or Non-Spicy etc.

It wasn't long before the lunch was served. We had Papadum as appetizer, followed by Cauliflower which was really soft yet crunchy.

Tandoori Chicken and Fish were served next. Again, it tasted absolutely delicious, especially the fish which was really soft. Too bad it was a little spicy for my taste.

We had different kinds of Naan served next - Garlic, Cheese, and the last one which I can't recall. All I know that it had some sweet cherries on top, which was perfect for a sweet tooth like me.

However, I was a little hesitant to try the Palak Paneer because of it's color. (Yes, unfortunately I'm the fussypot who chooses food according to colors) I did take a few licks of Palak Paneer, and thought it tasted like Spinach curry. But again, I'm not a fan of eating foods that have weird looking colors. That applies to yam, pumpkin - you get the drift.

With a sumptuous spread of food, we sat a while longer to chat and sip our Masala Teas (mine was Teh O though) while our tummies were hard at work with digestion. We had such a good time until we totally forgot that the Restaurant closes at 3:00pm!

We quickly apologize to the restaurant owner for holding back his closing hours and left to buy some groceries for dinner.

Usually when we pop by our friend's place, they'll be cooking and whipping up a storm for dinner. This time however, dear decided to observe the chef and contribute as well!

Yes! Dear, the associate chef had his go at mixing the ingredients with his fingers, stirring the pan of Meatball Sauce, and making the meatballs itself. It was so interesting to see him in action! Hopefully he gets to do this more often so that I can be pampered with his culinary skills next time!

/edit: I was told by a knowledgeable friend that the fruity naan is called Kashmiri Naan. Aha! There you go! I learn new things everyday!
