The term "comfort food" (first used, according to Webster's Dictionary, in 1977) refers to foods consumed to achieve some level of improved emotional status, whether to relieve negative psychological affect or to increase positive. More generally, comfort food can be defined as food that brings some form or measure of comfort, sense of well-being, or easy satisfaction.

With all the built up stress over the week because of work and exams, I had to find some sort of emotional stress relief before I go all cuckoo or breakdown and cry.
So after the completion of my first exam paper, I HAD TO CELEBRATE. That's when dear and I had Cafe Cartel, which tasted so-so.
But I was not satisfied. I wanted something more. I WANTED GOOD FOOD. But with good ambience of course.
Good thing, some friends and I had lunch at Earle Swensen's today and I was instantly comforted.
With a bloated stomach full of tender boneless chicken, sweet saccharine ice-cream, cool spritzer etc, I couldn't ask for more can I?
And with that much comfort food for just completing one exam, can you imagine the feast I am going to reward myself when I complete my exams on Wednesday?
My stomach and I can hardly wait!
