More Than Just A Red Dot

 |

My Economics teacher, who happens to be sarcastic, pompous, know-it-all and full of herself, has lately been the trigger of my thoughts. With that description, you would imagine what kind of first impression you might have of her. However amongst the bias views and illustrations that she has given, she mentioned something that struck me hard yesterday.

"Do you know that Singapore is an economical miracle?"

I stared blankly at her, nodded my head in agreement but without further understanding of the meaning behind her question.

Somewhere in her hefty explanation of her awe in how Singapore came from nothing to something, I was reminded of God.

Like what she mentioned, was it the leaders of the country that brought Singapore this far?Maybe, but other countries have good and wise leaders too. Or was it the people that were cooperative? Then again, other countries have cooperative citizens as well. So then how did Singapore prosper in just 20 to 30 years, alone?

As much as she is a Christian, she claims that this remains a mystery. Ask me, I'd say God.

Previously, I know how Singapore has been blessed, but regretfully, I wasn't convicted as I am now. And though I didn't live in to see the winds of change that Singapore had before and after, I count myself blessed to be born in this generation where Singapore is thriving in prosperity. So just take a moment to think, of how far we have come as a nation, and think of the possible reasons that make our country one of the top 20 richest countries in the world, or the having the award for the best airport, the best hub and etc..

Just think, and ask yourself, how? Can't put a finger to it? It isn't a mystery, it's God's blessing.
