On days where I have school for full days, lunch would most probably be at Plaza Singapura; and that means either Hong Kong Cafe, Kopitiam or any other fast food outlets located there. However yesterday, we were really bored with our usual choices, so we decided to give Manhattan Fish Market a try!
During lunch times, set lunch deals are often available. For most of us, we went ahead to order their Dory Fish Fillet, with either hot veg or Coleslaw and fries. At least, that was the cheapest around, and to be specific, it costs $9.90! Oh! the queues are pretty short, if not none at all during lunch times, so no worries about long queues or lack of seats!
As we were ushered to our seats, I must say that I am really impressed with their decor and ambiance. The furnishing is modern and chic, yet the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The cushion seat are really comfy too! On the walls, you can find pieces of Mediterranean ornaments hanging, and that gives that sort of cast-away-on-the-jetty feeling, or something close.
Here's Gilbert mugshot! This was totally unplanned and unexpected
The guys trying to look through the menu for something appetizing. Gilbert, still happily smiling away
Minyi stole this shot too! At least she bother to do some twisties!
The Menu
We were served with condiments as such, and I was thinking "Cool!" Little did I know that I had to use this to cover up for something
First up, the set includes Corn Soup! Creamy and rich, but a little sweet though. What do I know, I don't eat corn, so I drank the soup only!
As mentioned, the ambiance! Chic!
Finally for the main course, Dory Fillet with Hot Veg and Fries
Oh boy, look how oily it is? This is really disappointing! Not to be a spoiler but, the fish meat is slimy and soft, virtually tasteless! The self claimed hot vegetables isn't even warm, the carrots were way too hard, the mushrooms were tasteless and tangy, you know what? Only the fries were the tastiest amongst all! Even I had to use loads of chilli sauce to bring out the taste!
My friend Rachel, ordered Seafood Pasta and normally, Seafood would consists of Prawns, Scallobs and whatever not right? All she got was noodles and fish! When we questioned one of the crew regarding Rachel's Seafood Pasta, the waitress simply said "Oh, it's the lunch set meal so it only has FISH." What kind of explanation is that?
Well, I may be wrong or biased, but try for yourselves and you will find that probably, Cafe Cartel, or even Mcdonalds Fish Fillet would be a much better choice.
