Phuket Trip (Day 1 - Trang)

 |

For many bike enthusiasts, riding up to Thailand is a milestone achieved and the epitome of every biker's journey. Likewise for dear, myself, and our friends, it was the milestone for us as bikers (and pillions), as well as the journey of our lives.

We embarked on our journey at 20h00 on May 22nd. With hearts of anticipation and all that suppressed excitement in our bellies, we met up at GP (Gelang Patah) Esso before moving off.

Us waiting for our friends to arrive. Well, they aren't late. We are just early. Ha!

As usual, we travel light. All our clothes, laptop, slippers etc are stuffed within dear's box.

Us getting ready and suiting up. At about 20h30, we moved off from GP Esso!

Our first petrol stop was at Pagoh but I didn't take any pictures there because there were too many insects flying about! So I just stay still in my helmet feeling all protected and safe.

Our second petrop stop was at N.K.V.E. There we had filled our tummies with Mcdonalds for the rest of the journey.

Our third petrol stop was at Tapah. Here's the 5 of us, still looking so energetic and smiley!

Finally at about 06h30, we arrived at Sadao Border at Thailand. Yes we made it!

After clearing customs, we stopped by the side of the road to buy insurance for the bikes.

At first, we intended to ride straight to Trang for our stopover. But with the heat and us going at 80km/h (we were told by other riders to abide by Thailand's traffic rules), we just had to stop and freshen up!

Finally, we arrived at Trang; a city in Thailand for our stopover. Since we were exhausted, we decided to look for the nearest decent and cheap lodging that we could see. So we settled down at Thumrim Hotel as there was a banner outside that stated "Rooms From 400 THB"

However our rooms were 650 THB and honestly, I DO NOT RECOMMEND it to anyone. The walls needed a fresh coat of paint. The carpet was dirty and dusty, there were dust balls in corners of the room, and the beds are hard! Gee it was so unsettling!

Regardless, we settled down in the hotel and took a bath before heading out for lunch. From the hotel, we found a local coffee shop that seemed pretty popular. I ordered chicken rice for 30THB whereas dear and our friends ordered mix of chicken and pork (I think) which cost about the same as mine.

After which, we took a stroll along the streets of Trang and did some look see before heading back to the hotel for a nap.

For dinner, we headed out and found a food joint whose owner owns a Harley Davidson. For the ambience and decor, I was quite surprised that the food was reasonably cheap too!

As I had mild flu, I ordered Chicken Soup with Glass Noodles and eggs! Loved it!

Dear ordered some meat with rice. I can't remember if it was chicken or pork though. But he says it tasted ok, as usual.

Since our hotel did not include breakfast, we decided to visit their local supermarket to buy next day's breakfast.
Quite interestingly, I found Lays in many other flavors that were not found in Singapore! Hmmm, I wonder why! So I bought some for late night snacks.

Let's see.. we bought bread, milo, coffee, water.. Jo's basket is almost full!

Before went back to our hotels, we walked through their night market since it was near the supermarket. We didn't buy anything though.

Tired and exhausted, we took a slow stroll back to our hotels for a night of rest. Phuket, here we come!
