Father's Day At Pu Tien

 |

On every Father's Day, it is typical for the relatives on my maternal side to dine in some restaurant. This year being no exception, we celebrated Father's Day at Pu Tien Restaurant.

First up, we were served with Sweet and Sour Pork. Despite Sweet and Sour Pork being a common dish, the way it was cooked here at Pu Tien tasted superb. The meat was crispy, and unlike the usual garnish of onions, capsicum and pineapple, it was garnished with lychee.

Most of the younger generation (including myself haha) like this dish the most.

Next up, Yam was served. Now I hate yam. But this doesn't taste as bad as those that I've eaten before. In fact, the older folks like this dish because well, it tasted special as compared to the normal yams.

How special, I wouldn't know. Hmm...

The Chicken & Vegetables were served next. Though I don't exactly know what the dish is called, it comprises of chicken meat in some sweet red wine kind of sauce, coupled with peas.

I must say, that either the chicken was a different kind of chicken, or it was done up pretty good. Because the meat of the chicken was so soft, I thought it was something else.

After several dishes of meat came the cauldron of Cabbage Soup with Bean Curd. Likewise, this would perfect for those who are soup lovers. The soup tastes rich, and deep down you know the richness is from the boiling of several ingredients and not some MSG, and the bean curd was..
heavenly! It was so soft, so smooth, and eating it with the soup and rice indeed brings a warm fuzzy feeling down your gut.

The fifth dish was some Bean Curd and Stir Fried Vegetables. Though the Bean Curd wasn't as soft as the previous dish, it was still pleasant. Guess the sauce also plays a big part.

Then came the Bee Hoon with Clams. Unfortunately I didn't get to try this as I was too full from the rice and the previous dishes. Regardless, clams are not my thing. So I don't mind giving this a pass.

Last came the Sesame Fried Buns. They look golden and crispy don't they? Well, these are actually accompanied with the dish below. But I hear that it is tasty on it's own already.

Once again, didn't try this dish. Sigh!

Here's the Shredded Meat that is supposed to be placed in between the Sesame Buns above so that the juice from the Meat will ooze out when you bite the buns.

Ahhh. We were given a complementary dessert which was Red Bean Soup with Glutinous Ball.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the food at Pu Tien, and I believe most of my family members too. B

efore we left, we took a group shot. As you can see, we were grinning from all that good food, good company and hearty conversations over the table.

What a great Father's Day Celebration!
