爷爷 Birthday 2010

 |

This year, my grandfather decided to change the venue of his birthday dinner to Graces Court at Hotel Royal, 12 Queen Street.

Compared to the previous venues, it was smaller in capacity. But somehow or rather, it gave a more cosy feel.

Before my grandfather's guests started arriving, our family was seated already.

A loving picture of my grandparents (dad's side).

As usual, the first dish is always longevity buns; to signify long life ahead.

Followed by Yu Sheng, which was simply raw fish salad with lots of shredded vegetables.

Third that was served was the Cold Dish. Hard to tell that all these are actually vegetarian huh!

Next up was a very interesting dish: Lemon Chicken with Prawn Crackers. The lemon sauce was incredibly tasty, with a tinge of both sour and sweet taste. Perfect combination with the crispy prawn crackers!

Mushrooms with vegetables were served next. Really loved how soft and juicy the mushrooms were!

Shoots. I have no recollection of what this dish is called. Should be ham with something.
Can't blame me, I didn't eat this dish.

Another interesting dish that was served was this Tom Yam curry. Simply fantastic!

Next up was fried noodles. Despite its dryness, I do quite like it for its bouncy feel.

Lastly, we were served with some warm desert with glutinous rice balls. It was a little sweet in my opinion.

After which, my grandfather went around each table for a toast.

Well, his birthdays are usually this grand, with usually about 10 tables of guests and family members.

I hope he had a great time though. Happy Birthday grandpa!
