Kruzer: Fraser's Hill 2010 (Day 1)

 |

Fraser's hill, also known as Bukit Frasers, sits amongst the Pahang rainforest and is situated 1500 meters above sea level. Because of the cool climate, it is popular for those who are interested in nature-based pursuits such as trekking, bird watching, horse riding, fishing and camping. But there is something about Fraser's Hill that attract bikers too – the bends and corners.

With that knowledge in mind, dear and I submitted our names when we were told that Kruzers were organizing a trip up Frasers.

Unlike the usual trips where we usually set off at midnight, we were told that the move off time is 6:00am. At first, we were thinking – yay! More time to sleep! But little did we know that waking up at 3:30am was even harder than we thought!

Regardless, we gathered at GP Esso at 5:00am.

Soon, everyone arrived and we had a short briefing before moving off. However, It didn't take long before the sun peeped from the horizon and lighted the sky. Nonetheless, the ride was still cool, and we were able to ride through the morning mist and catch the ethereal view of the mountains from a distance.

We then stopped over at Pagoh and Seremban to refuel before heading to Rawang for brunch.

Arriving at one of the Bak Kut Teh stores in Rawang, we had a chance to try their DRY Bak Kut Teh, which tasted very good indeed. I must remember to get the GPS coordinates for this place!

After a sumptuous meal, we headed for our final destination – Fraser's Silverpark Resort, which is at the top of Frasers hill. That is where the guys get excited as they maneuver their motorcycles up the hill, through every bend and corner.

Arriving at the Gap, we were told that there is 8km of narrow, winding, one-way road before reaching the summit, and traffic up and down is controlled by a gate system with uphill traffic limited to odd hours, and downhill traffic to even hours.

Arriving at Frasers Silver Park Resort, I quickly found myself surrounded in buildings of colonial architecture. That with the cool weather and scenic view made everything all too surreal and peaceful!

Here's the view from our apartment's balcony! I wouldn't mind sitting by the balcony and sipping a cup of hot coffee while reading a book; just that I really detest insects, and I'm pretty sure those flying creatures may fly and give me a scare anytime!

Having taken a shower and settling our stuff, our roommate – CS and us headed downstairs to join the rest in someone else's apartment. Soon, dusk arrived and I was glad to witness the beautiful sunset from the balcony.

When our tummies rumbled, we then head down to the SCOTT, a restaurant situated near the resort. As you can see above, the architecture is rustic and quaint, and makes me feel as if I'm in another part of the world altogether.

The interiors of SCOTT is also very cosy and homely, especially with the warm glow from the flickering flame of the candles on the table.

As I wasn't feeling too well, I ordered Orange Juice, which was really pulpy.

The mushroom soup that dear and I ordered to share wasn't like the usual campbell soup that was served in most restaurants too. It was really made with real mushrooms, which tasted much good!

For my main dish, I ordered Pan Fried Dory, which tasted crispy on the outside but soft and hot inside. It doesn't come with the "fishy" smile too, which is good!

Dear decided to give the steak a go, and from his expression, it was not bad.

Before heading back to the hotel, we decided to head to the nearby stalls to order Ramli Burgers for supper. Dear then decided to play with the toy gorillas on display to scare me! Rahhh!
Finally, we crashed at one of the kruzer's apartment to chill. Since it was the Mid–Autumn's Festival, dear decided to light up some of the lanterns and hang it on the balcony. Ha! With the cold winds, it wasn't long before the flame went out.

However, I was tired and soon ended up dozing off. That's when enough is enough, and I walked back to our apartment to crash into bed.
