Greater Than The Parts

 |

While reading the news regarding the recent demise of Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, I came across Law Minister K. Shanmugam's tribute:

"She could have gone out and turned her mind to politics, to law, anything, she would have done well. But because she combined with her husband and supported him, the sum of the two of them was greater than the parts, and therefore the contributions she made were all the more significant."

It was of those sentences about love that made my heart wrench. I know that (as the famous saying goes) "There is a woman behind every successful man" but in the above tribute, it portrays Mrs. Lee Kuan Yew as one who is sacrificial, noble, loving, and dignified.

These qualities are indeed admirable and honestly, I secretly hope that I'm able to attain these qualities one day.

Regardless, goodbye Mrs Lee. Your presence have been significant in Singapore and you will indeed be truly missed.
