It was a different countdown for both dear and I this year - one that was quiet, cosy, with great food and good friends.
And as the small bunch of us gathered at a friend's house - Cashew Bar - for a sumptuous meal, hearty chat, and some some nice wine, it wasn't long before we knew that it was minutes away from 12:00am!
So we gathered at the window in hope to be able to catch a glimpse of the 8 minute long fireworks at Marina Bay. Fortunately because of our friend's location and high floor, we were able to see a some fireworks across the horizon.
As soon as we saw the fireworks, we knew that the clock has struck 12, 2011 has arrived, and a new year has begun. So we went around wishing each other Happy New Year, and dear looked at me lovingly before giving me a peck.
We then continued to chat with some sparkling grape juice and ice-cream and left for home at 2:00am.
Despite the few numbers in our bunch, it was the presence of good friends (and good food especially) that made the night special and warm. Perhaps we should do this for this year's countdown as well!
