After a long afternoon of back to back tutorials, my classmates and I were hungry, and decided that we should reward ourselves (and our tummies) with nothing less than a sumptuous dinner.
So we stood in front of the directory at Plaza Singapura, glancing each restaurant name under the Food Category when I saw "Nando's". Recalling that it's a newly opened restaurant, I suggested to my other two classmates and one of them said "Yes! It's nice to eat!"
We then ordered our drinks. On the left is Cape Verde Fresca ($3.90) - A simple blend of iced green tea with lime wedges.
On the right is Sparkling Apple ($3.90) - a special blend by Nando's. But do not be deceived. It taste just like sprite with apple juice - which is actually what it is (as revealed by one waitress)!
Entering Nando's, I was pleasantly welcomed by the Portuguese theme. The decor was primarily woody, with occasional loud colors contrasting against rocky textures. All in all, the ambience was a good reflection of the Portuguese culture, and I really felt as if I was in a different country altogether!
After waiting for about 10 minutes or so, or food finally arrived. As we ordered the Peri Platter which is able to serve up to 4 persons, we could choose 4 side dishes which will be served with 1 full chicken (cut up into four pieces).
I was actually quite disappointed that they didn't have Mash Potatoes or Baked Beans for Side Dishes. So my classmates and I chose Old Styles Chips which is normal fries, Peri-Peri Chips which is normal fries with some special powder, Coleslaw, and Spiced Rice, which tasted just like Nasi Briyani.
Since I'm not a fan of spicy food, I decided to have the Lemon & Herb Flavor, while my 2 other classmates had the Mild Peri-Peri. I also had a chance to try my chicken with their famous peri-peri Hot chili sauce, which really wasn't that HOT. Compare that and chili padi, chili padi will wins hands down.
However, the chicken tastes fantastic. It's juicy and soft, and tastes way much better than Chili's in my opinion.
Anyhow, I had two chicken (out of the 4) in the platter, and the guys decided to order another WHOLE chicken ($33.90), where I ate close another piece of chicken (or more), amounting to almost a WHOLE chicken!
Gee you can imagine how bloated and satiated I was when I left Nando's!
