A Turn Of The Screw

 |

Today would have been a nice and lazy afternoon if not for 2 things: A sudden downpour and a punctured tire.

Well the sudden downpour wasn't much of a big deal. But it kinda sucks getting drenched and knowing that you can't do anything about it because there isn't any convenient place to stop and suit up, and also because we were 5 mins from reaching dear's place so there was no point to stop anyway.

The punctured tire however, was something that brought about mixed emotions.

It all started when I was riding and felt that something was amiss. More accurately, I felt that the bike's pick up was slower, it was much heavier when I tried to paddle it, and it just felt .. different.

So once we arrived at the carpark, I told dear my concerns and instinctively, he told me to look at my rear tires while he pushed my bike forward. As the rear tire rolled while dear was pushing the bike, I spotted a screw right in the middle of the tire!

At that moment, I was filled with mixed emotions - excited that it's my first puncture, and sad that I have a puncture.

Quickly dear knew what to do. He rode with me to a nearby petrol station and started to patch the tire but putting a worm. Before he did so, he had to pump some air into my rear tire first. That's when we realized that my tire pressure had dropped from 220 to less than 100!

So that means to say that if I did not realize the puncture today, I would definitely been greeted by a flat tyre within the next few days.

Anyhow, dear managed to repair the puncture within a 5 - 10 minutes or so. He then continued to check and pumped up the air pressure of my rear tire before moving off.

Phew! Am so glad to have a boyfriend who is both a geek and a mechanic!
