Mr Bean's Cafe

 |

On sundays where dear and I don't have a any plans on a single afternoon, we have lunch, hang out, then head to either one of our homes to chill.

Today was no different. It was a warm and lazy sunday afternoon and dear gave me the "what's the plan?" look when church service ended. Immediately, my mind ran through a list of things we could do, places we could lunch at etc. Just as I was about to blurt out a random lunch venue (because I couldn't think of anything different), I suddenly recalled stumbling onto my friend's foursquare post when he checked in to Mr. Bean's Cafe.

Mr. Bean's Cafe
30 Selegie Road
Singapore 199351
6333 3100

Since we parked at Plaza Singapura (free parking for bikes), I thought that it would be a long walk to Selegie Road. Little did I know that it was pretty near and within 10 to 15 minutes, we arrived!

Entering into the cafe, I was pretty disappointed with the interiors and decor. Everything felt old and rustic, which is contrary to the modern outlook of their website. Regardless, dear and I got seated and ordered our food.

Anyhow, dear ordered one of their promotional set lunches - Super Combo: Salmon Steak & Samosas & Café Mocha or Orange Juice ($25.80).

Since they did not have Salmon steak, we were served with Fish. If I am not wrong, it's Cod Fish. It ain't too bad, but since I am lactose intolerant, the cheesy sauce was quite repelling.

I however, ordered the other promotional set - Mr Bean's Special Set Meal which includes Soup of the Day, Baked Rice, Peach Melba Jr, and Coffee / Tea / Softdrink ($12.80)

For Soup of the Day, I was served with Vegetable and Chicken soup but honestly, it tasted exactly like Campbell soup, but much saltier.

For my main course, I had the Baked Rice which was as disappointing. The rice and the cheese felt like friends who don't go along, and the portions were small. You bet that I didn't finish this despite it being a small portion.

You know what. I am certain that I won't be stepping here again in the near future.
