Quiznos & Tully Coffee (Square 2)

 |

The first time I've heard about Quiznos, was when my colleagues brought me there for lunch. Well, that wasn't actually the first time I've heard about Quiznos. I've actually walked past there a couple of times when I was at Novena Square 2 but somehow or rather, I didn't stop by there for a meal.

Anyway, I followed my colleagues to Quiznos and on our way there, they kept repeating about how Quiznos is better than Subway. Usually when I hear this, the subway fan in me would get all defensive and quickly rebut with how Subway is the healthier and fresh choice. But this time round, I decided to be more open-minded and less headstrong. After all, I can't imagine the irreversible consequences if we got into a debate .. all because of food.

Arriving at Quiznos, I was a little turned off by the office crowd at lunch hour. But having to travel 2 MRT stations just to get here, we went ahead to queue.

To cut the long story short, I ordered their Honey Bourbon Chicken, which consists of Chicken, lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Honey Bourbon Mustard, and Zesty Grille Sauce. Upon my first bite, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor-full Mustard and Grille Sauce, which overwhelmed my palates with rich and strong flavors. It was then when I realized what my colleagues meant when they say "Quiznos is better than subway!"

And just when I thought that my sandwich was delicious enough, I took a bite at my friend's Spicy Beef and Cheddar with Bacon, which consists of Roast Beef, Bacon, Cheddar, Chopped Lettuce, Tomatoes, Mayo, Yellow Mustard and Zesty Grille Sauce, and I couldn't help but let out a groan which sounded like some food orgasm. Yes, it tastes THAT good, and I knew that I had to bring dear to Quiznos to try this some day.

Weeks later, I decided to bring dear to Quiznos because knowing him, his palate and his stomach, I know that he would love strong and rich flavors of the Spicy Beef and Cheddar with Bacon.

In addition to the 12" sandwich that we ordered, I topped it up to a meal, which comes with a bowl of soup and a drink. We upsized the drink further to a Large size.

Now comes the moment of truth of whether I truly know the boyfriend's taste buds well enough.

He took the first bite and frowned. While he chewed his first bite, he nodded his head and said "Hmm.. Not bad." In his dictionary, 'Not Bad' means that it meets his expectations.

He took the second bite and nodded his head once again, saying "Hmmm.. Good. Got standard." He went on to add that he likes the rich and flavor-full sauces, which complemented perfectly with his favorite ingredients - cheese, bacon, and beef, and not forgetting the nicely toasted crusty bread.

In conclusion to his praise, he agreed that Quiznos is indeed his preferred choice over Subway and he wouldn't mind paying the extra premium just to have this sandwich for his meal.

Well, enough said. Looks like we will be heading to Quiznos for our weekly Sunday lunch. Yeah!
