Bedrock Grill & Bar

 |

Today marks the end of the 8th year since the boyfriend and I started going "steady".

To celebrate our anniversary, I suggested to dine at Bedrock Grill and Bar after reading some raving reviews about it a few days before.

Since dear and I took leave to celebrate this occasion, we decided to have lunch instead of dinner. Additionally, I read that they have some lunch set meal which was quite worthwhile.

After we've been seated, I took a quick glance around the interiors of Bedrock. With rustic woody walls, dark ceilings with ambient lighting, and dark framed glass windows, the ambience exuberated a cosy yet classy vibe.

Before we were served with our meals, we were given 2 pieces of strange looking bread. Surprisingly, these bread taste really good and soft. Too bad they don't have curry, else it would have been perfect.

Part of our lunch set meal includes Soup of the Day, which is Fish Chowder. Though I do like it, I didn't finish it because it just got too creamy for the mildly lactose intolerant me.

Dear's Grilled Ribeye Steak arrived next. Chewing into his first bite, I quickly asked how was it. After all, I heard that the steak here is as good as Morton's.

He quickly replied "It's different from Lawry's." When I asked why, he said that the steak at Bedrock was grilled and a tad tough for Medium Rare.

My Crispy Skin Seabass arrived shortly and upon my first bite, I was quickly disappointed. Contrary to the name of the dish, the skin wasn't crispy at all. In fact, I felt that the fish tasted slightly oily.

Then again, I might have mistaken their bearnaise sauce for oil, since both of them look similar to in colors.

Ending our 3-course lunch set meal is this delectable plate of Chocolate Lave Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Well, I guess the hype and raving reviews for Bedrock is only for their high end steak, and not their other regular items like Chicken and Fish.

Having that said, if I were to pay such a hefty price to try out their grilled steak, I might as well dine at Lawry's because I've tried there 3 times and they haven't failed me. Alternatively, I might give Morton's a try. Whatever it is, I don't think we'll be coming back to Bedrock in the near future.
