Happy New Year 2009

 |

Happy New Year everyone! Here's many wishes to a good year and good health for the year 2009!

I remembered last year's New Year eve, I celebrated it with some church friends at Clark Quay after a church dinner at River City Restaurant. We didn't exactly hold a celebration at Clark Quay, but we were walking down Clark Quay after our church dinner when we bummed into some rowdy crowds of people that were doing their own countdowns at the various bars and pubs. So since we were there and the clock was ticking into midnight, we thought it would be fun to just stand there and countdown ourselves amidst random groups of rowdy people! When the clock struck 12, there were people on the streets popping party poppers at strangers and us, randomly shouting "Happy New Year!" in our ears, and it was fun!

However this year, it wasn't so much fun. In fact, I was pretty nonchalant about embracing 2009. Perhaps I know that despite what people might speculate about how things might turn around and be better in 2009, or predictions about the economy market that it might be still and equally bad, deep in my heart, there was this quiet confidence and trust that God will still be in control no matter what the situation might be. So yes, I had faith and hope that even if things would be better or worse, He will carry me through, He will provide, He will sustain me just like how He has been faithful every year.

Anyway like every other year, I celebrated New Year's Eve in church amongst fellow brothers and sisters. It is during this time where I am reminded of how God has done great and mighty things in my life, through the testimonials of how God touched them in their own lives.

Before the service and testimonials began, we had a wonderful time of fellowship over supper, which was actually pastries and cakes from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

After which, the service began with Praise and Worship, some fun time of games, then testimonials by various people, before counting down into the new year.
"3.. 2.. 1.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Ha ha everyone popped their party poppers, and wished each other Happy New Year. Oh what fun!

When the whole service was over, I left home with my parents. Ha you might be thinking why on earth am I so boring. I guess I was tired after a whole long day of action, and honestly, the 'rah-rah' mood didn't get into my blood this time round. Ha it might really be a sign of aging! Any how, I still give thanks and appreciate everything that happened in 2008. But I know that now that's chapter is closed, a new one begins today in 2009.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had fun last night no matter where you were. Soon, it will be Chinese New Year in just 3 weeks. Now that, I've certainly got the mood ready!
