Monsta Cafe

 |

Usually on Fridays, dear and I will join our friends for supper across the border, and refuel at the same time.

So thhis week, we were brought to a new supper location - Monsta Cafe.
Monsta Cafe
157 Jalan Bestari 1/5
Taman Tan Sri Yaakob, 81300 Johor Bahru, Malaysia

At first sight, I thought that the building and the name of the cafe was kinda cute. More accurately, I felt that the whole place suggested a modern, young and fun ambience. So anyway, we settled for seats near our bikes and began ordering our food.

Since dear and I wasn't very hungry. We decided to order a Double Scoop Ice Cream (Chocolate Chip & Strawberry) to share. Well, if you'd ask, the ice cream tasted pretty average. I'd still prefer Ben's and Jerry's haha!

One of my friends ordered Charcoal Toast Bread, and when his bread arrived, it was was BLACK! We all burst out laughing because it was just so unique and interesting.

Well at first we thought that the bread was 'Chao-Tarred' (means burned in Hokkien). But apparently it wasn't! God knows how they made the bread black!

As I watched my friends savor their supper, I got a tad hungry eventually and decided to order something less than a main course but yet equally satisfying. So I ordered Mashed Potatoes. To my disappointment, I wasn't able to continue finishing my food because I just felt that the potatoes were just too chunky, and a little "buttery" which made me sick and tired of the taste after a few bites.

But as usual, dear swopped in and finished most of the mashed potatoes for me because he believes that one shouldn't waste food.

Regardless of my opinion of the mashed potatoes, I thought that the staff in Monsta Cafe were pretty well-mannered, who provided us with good service. That's a major plust point, and it is probably one of the reasons for me to return.
