2010 Reflections

 |

I can't believe that it has been a year since I last blogged about my 2009 reflections! Time has slipped through my fingers (and maybe yours) indeed.

Well anyway, I usually do some major reflections on the last day of the year and this year is no exception. In fact, this year has been exceptionally great and here are the major achievement / events that took place in year 2010:

My 22nd Birthday:
I celebrated my 22nd Birthday and Valentine's Day by going on a trip with dear - just the two of us! It was our very first getaway together, and it sure was a good experience planning the trip itinerary ourselves.

So we travelled to Mersing, and did a spontaneous trip to Kuantan, before coming back to Singapore. It was great, and we had lots of fun!

I finally know what Blood Type I am:
I know this sounds absurd but I had no idea what my blood type was for two decades of my life! It wasn't stated in my Birth Certificate, or Health Booklet, and no way was I going to bang on my mom's reply when she said "umm.. should be O I think!"

So I mustered all the courage I had and took a Blood Test at a local polyclinic. Cutting the long story short, I had to overcome my fear of drawing blood in order to confirm that I am O positive.

The Phuket Milestone:
Making it to the Thailand border is perhaps the epitome of every rider's journey. Together with 3 of our good friends, dear and I embarked on a week long road trip to Phuket and back.

  • Day 1: Leaving from Singapore, our first destination was Trang (Thailand) where we stopped to rest our tired bodies after staying awake and riding for 18 to 20 hours.
  • Day 2: The next day, we travelled to Phuket after 5 hours of riding.
  • Day 3: We spent Day 3 in Phuket enjoying a Fish Spa, conquering the white water, ATV etc.
  • Day 4: Day 4 was a boat ride to Phi Phi Islands and some other islands. We did snorkeling there and arrived back in the hotel tanned and exhausted.
  • Day 5: Before returning home to Singapore, we stayed a night in Hatyai (Thailand) to rest because the journey from Phuket to Hatyai itself took almost a day.
  • Day 6: We finally packed our belongings and left Hatyai for Singapore.

My Orthodontic Journey:
After decades of procrastination, I finally decided to get my teeth fixed by seeking orthodontic treatment - BRACES!

So after getting the Moulds and X-Rays done, I had my first extractions where 2 teeth were extracted, followed by the second extractions where another 2 teeth were extracted. After which, I finally put on my braces and am currently living with metal on my teeth.

Quality Family Time:
It has been a long time since I spent quality time with my family on a trip or whatsoever. This year, my family together with my paternal grandparents, dear and I, spent 3 days and 2 nights in Festive Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa.

It was helluva great time! We had so much fun at Universal Studios, we thoroughly enjoyed the Voyage De La Vie show, and even took the Luge and Sky Ride on the last day of Sentosa!

Everyone, meet Scarlet:
Dear finally bought his dream bike - a Honda STX 1300, this year. Though this might not really affect me as much as his pocket, it is significant to me because I was the one who pushed him over the fence to make this hefty purchase.

And to be honest, I don't regret it a bit. This bike has got the largest and most comfortable seat for a pillion (in my opinion) and man, it is as steady and sturdy as a rock at mid range to higher speeds (100 to 180 km/h).

Getting A Flat:
Moving to the next phase of our relationship, dear and I decided to purchase a Build To Order (BTO) flat. So we applied for a few BTO projects but were not successful as our ballot numbers exceeded the number of units in the BTO project.

But by His divine intervention, we were able to book a unit in Punggol Waves despite the fact that our ballot numbers exceeded the number of units in the project! How is this possible? Well, I guess there were some people in the queue that forgo their chances and gave up their flats.

So now, we have our Additional Housing Grant and Housing Loan Eligibility approved our submitting all our documents, and the only thing left is the Appointment to Sign the Lease, which should take place in the next few weeks or so.

My 2A License:
After a year of passing my Class 2B license, I decided to take my Class 2A license. I remember vividly of how good the weather was, how I was nervous but He sent a friend to talk with him and remove all my nervousness, and how smooth the test was.

So I passed my 2A license with 6 points and you could say that it's the best present I give myself for Year 2010.
..

Truly, 2010 has been a wonderful year and I can't help but feel so blessed and fortunate to be able have experience all these wonderful events as listed above. Having said that, I guess I should end of year 2010 with wide grin on my face as I look forward to 2011.

Have a very Happy New Year everyone! I hope that 2010 has been good to you as well. If not, chin up! Look ahead to what's in store in 2011. Cheers!
