Ambush (Junction 8)

 |

In celebration of my unofficial end of probation at work, as well as other things, my colleagues and I wanted to have a good meal somewhere nearby our office.

So I decided to check out hungrygowhere.com for some recommendations. A few clicks later, I stumbled upon Ambush:

Ambush
9 Bishan Place
#02-19/20/27 Junction 8 Shopping Centre
6353 3960

Arriving at Ambush, I was relieved that there wasn't a queue outside the restaurant. Inside, however, was pretty packed with customers. So you can imagine how fortunate we were to be seated within 5 mins of our arrival.

As we were kinda in a hurry, our orders were quickly placed. Most of us ordered the Set Lunch, which comes with a Soup of the Day, Main Course, and a Beverage.

For today, the Soup of the Day was Clam Chowder. I don't like clams, oysters, mussels and whatnot. But this Clam Chowder was surprisingly pretty tasty. There wasn't the fishy seafood taste, and the soup wasn't too bland or overly salty. In fact, the flavors were all nicely done!

For my main course, I had the Salmon Basil (something something) Pasta. It was quite a turn-off that my pasta was Linguine instead of Spaghetti, even when I've specifically instructed the waiter to have Spaghetti as my choice of pasta.

Apart from that, I must say that the tomato based sauce was quite good. It's sweet, and isn't too bland or too rich. I like!

My colleague ordered a Sausage Meal, which I was fortunate enough to try. Gosh, the mashed potato taste quite good! In fact, it's one the smoothest in texture ever1!

How can we leave without ending things on a good and sweet mode?

So we ordered a Molten Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream for our dessert, which was quite alright.

All in all, my set meal amounted to $14+, which I believe is really affordable and reasonable. Hmm, looks like we'll be heading to Ambush more often than expected.
