In All Aspects

Some recent updates of my disorientated life:

Work
Come monday, I will no longer be working because the company has found someone that is able to commit full-time. Actually, I was there to help out in the interim period a colleague who has left and a new colleague to arrive. However, it seems to me as if it's God's will/intervention/plan because coincidentally, I have full days in school from Tuesday onwards. To top things up, my exams are about 2 weeks away. Oh my! Thank God He is still in control!

School
Upon receiving the results of my BAF (Business Accounting & Finance) test, I felt a little disappointed yet contented at the same time. Little mistakes were made here and there but because of the lack of time, I could not make further changes to my answers. Still, I thank God for a good grade, though things can always be BETTER. Enough said, I will study harder for my coming exam!

Personal
Oh dear, I've been terribly grouchy and snappy lately. Furthermore with sleep deprivation as well as the approaching "monthly-cycle", my whole body and mind feels like an impending catastrophe - some sort like a volcano waiting to erupt. Thankfully you guys haven't been able to see or feel the brunt of it yet, but poor dear.. ha! No worries, he's tough as a rock.

Spiritual
Currently waiting on God, resting in His hope, His assurance, drawing strength from Him, and being absolutely still.

There you go! My sincere apologies for boring you guys with such trivial details. I guess coffee, sleep, and anything sweet will do the trick for now.

Mom's The Best

Now that I've started working part-time, battling with fatigue has become a daily fight when I reach home at the end of the day. In days where I have church on weekday nights, my inevitable grouchy hormones combined with my exhausted physical being would just lash itself on anyone that comes into contact with me, especially my family.

Despite my grumpiness, mom still cooks my favorite sausage with egg in chicken soup for supper. She pours cold water into my cup, knowing that I would reach for my cup and open the fridge to get some cold iced water. Mom's the best!

White Dog Cafe

Today, my classmates and I decided to lunch at White Dog Cafe which is located at Vivocity. Well, it was sort of a way to comfort our bruised morals after a tricky Accounting test so I suggested dining in some fancy cafe with nice ambiance and relatively priced food.

Chicken Comeree with Garlic Bread
Oreo Cheesecake
Deep Pan-fried Japanese Salmon With Butter Rice & Salad
Chicken Leg With Butter Rice & Salad
Fried Dory Fish With Butter Rice & Salad

Here's my personal take - Though the ambience is classy and bright lit because of glass windows that overlook Harbourfront and Sentosa, the food is average. On top of that, customer service seriously needs to be improved. However, if you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary from the usual Kopitiam or Foodcourt, and if your tastebuds are willling to compromise, then this place wouldn't be a bad choice. A set lunch amounts to $10.80 nett, and that includes a soup, main course and coffee or tea.

Bluetooth Mouse

Each time I receive a surprise, it brings back the wonder of a child in me, it makes me shriek like a little girl that has just received her very first barbie doll, and somehow in that moment of glee, it seems as if tons of fireworks are quietly exploding in my head.

Being one that finds joy in giving surprises to others and hoping in silence to be surprised as well, I often buy little gifts for others to put a smile on their face and hope it makes their day. Unfortunately, this is not mutual or rather, I give more than I receive. Nothing wrong with that and I am not complaining either. Furthermore, Jesus often speak of how it is more blessed to give than to receive, so I am really contented in just blessing others and making them smile.

However, dear managed to surprise me on Friday night by buying a Bluetooth Mouse as a reward for passing my driving test, and as a way of showing his heartfelt appreciation to me! Haha a touching moment yet funny how a simple gift sends my happy hormones sky-rocking to cloud nine. Now it's my turn to treat him to a fancy dinner to thank him for sponsoring my driving test. Thank you dear for your lovely surprise!

Ironman: Scott Rigsby

Scott Rigsby: "I just want to put my ordinary life in my extraordinary God, so that He can do extraordinary things through me.. It doesn't matter about world records, it doesn't matter about being on tv or being on magazines. At the end of the day when I put on my head on my pillow, it's about Knowing God and making God known. If I hadn't done that over the course of my life, then I would have lived a lost life."

Scott Rigsby
Scott Rigsby became the first double-amputee on prosthetics in the world to finish an Ironman distance triathlon with prosthetics at the 140.6-mile World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Rigsby used "swim legs" to navigate the difficult 2.4 mile ocean swim, "bike legs" to cycle 112 miles through the heat and gusting winds of the Big Island lava fields on a standard road bike, and "run legs" to complete the marathon segment in darkness and intense pain.
Read more about his story here.

Another touching and inspiring story that nearly brought me to tears. Each time, I see their heart and passion in making their lives a testimony, turning every unfortunate event as a stepping stone for God's glory to revealed through them, it just blows me off. Truly, God can use anyone who is willing, to be His living testimony!

Congratulations Singapore!

Last night was the Olympics 2008 Table Tennis Woman's Finals with Singapore competing against China for the Gold Medal. The results: Singapore clinched the SILVER medal, and China won GOLD. Nevertheless it was a huge achievement for Singapore! The last time we had an Olympic Medal was 48
years ago! Well done Singapore, you have done us proud!

Then again, the Singapore's table team players are from China. Hmmm..

Sigh, watching the Table Tennis Match really got my brain cells screaming out to start Table Tennis training. Memories start flooding in, and now my table tennis bat is just left in a dark corner to rot. I've been actually searching online for people who play table tennis actively now, but yet again to no avail.

So.. ANYONE WANTS TO PLAY TABLE TENNIS WITH ME?

Flea Markets

Call me a cheapskate, and in fact, I am proud to be one! Why? Because half of my clothes are bought from flea markets! You would be thinking that flea markets are filled with old junk, antiques, and tattered clothings but hey no! Or rather, the ones that I have been to have branded clothes such as Fashion Lab, Mango, Forever 21, Chaos etc.. and trust me, the quality is good! A piece of clothing cost between $2 to $5 each, so all you need is a good wash and viola! Who can tell the difference right?

Just a tip: Not every item in flea markets are nicely displayed in hangars, most of them just dumped a pile of clothes on a mat and you have to squat down and literally look through every piece. Just like finding a needle in a haystack! Well if it's cheap and good, why not?

Thankfully, there is a flea market held on the second weekend of every month just a stone's throw from my house. In fact, that was the reason why I started falling in love with flea markets. In case if there isn't flea markets near your area, here is a list of Flea Markets in Singapore:

1) China Square Central Flea Market
When: Sundays
Time: 10am to 6pm

2) Far East Square
When: Sat, Sun, Public Holidays
Time: 12.30pm to 8pm

3) Tanglin Mall
When: Sundays
Time: 10am to 6pm

4) Zouk Flea and Easy Market
When: Once every 3 months, Sunday
Time: 2pm to 7pm
Where: Zouk

5) Lime Flea Market
When: Bi-Monthly
Where: *Scape (Behind Cineleisure)

6) Maad
When: Sunday
Time: 11am to 7pm
Where: Red dot design museum, 28 Maxwell Road

Disclaimer: This list is not concise and might not be accurate. It is based on the gatherings of different people who have been to different flea markets as mentioned above.

Just The 2 Of Us

This post is way overdue, but better late than none! On tuesday, Minyi and I headed down Siloso beach at Sentosa for a nice tan. At first there wasn't much sun but I prayed through the whole journey from school to Sentosa, and thank God for a warm sun with cool breeze and occasionally scorching rays!

I was sooooooo excited because it's really hard to find a tanning buddy! Further more, it has been a long time since this old "hobby" of mine surfaced. The trouble was, we didn't bring any sunscreen, not even any tanning oil! Haha so we were the au' naturals. You can imagine how our faces are peeling now, oh what the heck! No pain, no gain! So here I am - tanned and very satisfied!

Our weekly corporate prayer meeting was cancelled because we were encouraged to attend this National Day Thanksgiving Service, and so dear and I went!

Well, there is always a first time for everything and oh boy, it was really interesting to see how other churches of different denominations gathering to pray!

Fortunately we spotted Ivy and Esther, if not dear and I would really feel like 2 complete aliens.

Driver Leong

This time round, I was more nervous than my previous driving test. I could hear my heart thumping in my head, sweat trickling down my temples and the light subtle trembles in my hands. Trust me, having your driving test at 2pm in the afternoon with the scorching sun and an aching left knee doesn't help at all. Anway, the driving test comprises of 2 parts:

Circuit
Here is where you go through various obstacles that test your steering, judgement and parking skills! Previously, I failed because I strike the kerb twice while doing my 3 point turn. This time round, I brushed the kerb while doing my S-course, and MOUNTED the kerb while doing my vertical parking. At this point of time, I was so dejected and disheartened that I really had this impulse to step out of the car and end my test. But I didn't, I continued with the rest of the circuit, sucking in all my despair.

Route
Upon completion of the circuit, we have to drive on the route that we have balloted before the test. Here, you will be accessed by how you handle road conditions, how you do a u-turn, how you change lanes etc.. Thank God I managed to get an easier route! Phew! After the route, I had to return back to the driving centre to find out the verdict of the test.

As I waited for the tester to come out from the toilet, my head was just filled with plans about the next driving test, the amount of money I have to spend and so on.. Then the tester came out from the toilet, guided me back to the room with little brown cubicles where we sit on opposite sides as he start to unveil the results.

Tester: "You passed."
(I looked up, on the verge of tears because I thought he was joking)
Me: "Huh?"
(Tester started flipping the test checklist and began counting the points. He then takes out a ruler, ticked on the box beside the word PASS, and striked off FAIL)

Yeah I know, I don't know how I passed too. I shouldn't have passed after all that's happen with the kerb. But I know God is a God of miracles! Thank God for His mercy and help! Thank you dear for sponsoring my driving test as well! Congrats to Christine for passing her driving test too! What a miraculous day!

Get A Grip!

Here I am, feeling cross with myself, drowning myself in self-reproach, voices of doubts about myself filling my head. Why are all these so familiar? Why can't I just learn to take things with a pinch of salt and move on? Why does this pang of low inferiority hit me even before my brain tells my heart that this is just another useful advice for me to learn? Why can't I just forget the pain?

Dear God, please help me to learn, please help me to let go of this pain, please strengthen my heart, please teach me not to runaway, please takeaway all these thoughts and emotions. Make me a new creation, renew my mind and heart.

Grace, don't be so hard on yourself.

Despite being stripped off my financial capacity as a student, I managed to get this denim jacket of my dreams at a whopping price of $33 dollars! Tell me, is that a good deal or what?

And if you are thinking that it shouldn't be good since it's cheap, you're wrong! Fox Fashion is having sale now, so quickly grab your wallets and head down before it's too late!

Oh, outfitter girls are on sale too. Tops are between $5 to $8, check it out!

Ha that's the beauty of having a shopping centre near your school
