Rabbit Orientation: Touch

It's been some time since Mocha has been with our family and step by step, I am trying to let it know that we humans, are not predators but rather, nice and kind people.

Like every other process which begins with baby steps, I have maintained at stroking its (Gee I still have no idea what gender it is!) furry head, and that's pretty much about it.

Then recently, dear came over and being a curious and inquisitive boy, he probably forgot that Mocha bites and went on to open the cage while Mocha was lying flat and being completely docile, stuck his hand in, stroke its head and went on stroking it further from its head to its body!

It was a huge accomplishment! I applauded dear's bravery and told him that I would never dare to do that!

But being all that 'adventurous', I decided to take a shot when dear left, leaving myself to the mercy of my rabbit's probable bites and lunges. However, Mocha didn't flinch, nor did it lunge aggressively at me. So for some time now, I have being petting Mocha, stroking its head, down to its body.
Well it looks like Mocha does enjoy it! :) Next up, learning to pick it up and check its gender! Oh man, I sure need dear's help with that. I'm terrified when Mocha lunges and grunts in fear! Pffttt!

Teddy, Meet Doggy

I remembered last year about this same time, dear surprised me with a huge dog soft toy by strapping it on the front passenger seat and picking me up with his dad's car.

And you know I love surprises! Especially when it comes along with HUGE FURRY SOFT TOYS that do not drop fur! (Because I have a sinus problem, so I am some sort cautious of what tickles my nostrils easily.)

This year, no he didn't surprise me with a huge soft toy, but Auntie Dolly bought me a big huggable bear soft toy for Christmas that simply lifts my spirits up!

I named it Teddy, in lined with how I named Doggy. So Teddy, meet Doggy! Oh I so love Christmas, especially the presents that I've received!

My Thanksgiving List 2008

With 2008 coming to a close in 5 days, many have been busy partying, enjoying the last few days of 2008 with their friends and family, and writing their resolutions for 2009. I am not a fervent resolution person, because as hard as I try, I can't fulfill them or even worse, I cannot remember what were the resolutions I made.

However today, I was convicted to write a thanksgiving list for the major events that happened to my this year. Wouldn't that be different? After all, we have been focusing on making new resolutions each year and forgetting the importance of taking to reflect and give thanks. Hence, whilst the entire year is getting ready to welcome 2009 with their new resolutions, I shall take some time to give thanks first, before 2008 comes to an end.

So here goes:

First up, I would like to give thanks for my exam today. Admittedly, I didn't manage to have enough time to study because of all the Christmas Celebrations. However on the last day, I managed to cram my revision notes and do some last minute mugging. It works for me somehow, even though I jolly well know that it is not good. For the past few exams I had, I only place my hopes on a particular set of exam questions that might come out, but this time round, I was convinced to study both sets of exam questions and I THANK GOD I DID because the set of exam questions that everyone thought will not come out, came out and therefore I was able to do my paper. As I left the exam room, I heaved a sigh of relief and thank God immediately for His wisdom and grace.

Secondly, I would like to give thanks for a miraculous driving test which I passed and am still in awe when I think about it.

Thirdly, I would like to give thanks for safety and protection on the roads thus far. I have been a good pillion and dear, a good and safe rider.

Fourthly, I would like to give thanks for dear, for always physically being there as much as you can, sending me from point to point, making me happy by making use of your make-grace-happy budget.

...

There are so much for me to give thanks for and the list is simply too long. Nonetheless, it is never too late to start counting your blessings and gaining some perspective in life. Perhaps then, we might come to realize that how fortunate we really are.

Christmas At YMCA

Merry Christmas everyone! Alas, I am starting to feel the festive mood amongst all the Christmas celebration, especially with the Detonate Youths and church mates!

Like every other year, my church has a Christmas Celebration on Christmas eve and for both last year and this year, we had our Christmas Celebration at YMCA.

So what goes on in a Christmas Celebration? It usually begins with Singspiration of some Christmas songs and carols, followed by various performances by different ministries. And each year, I would be dead tired because I would either be performing, or most of the time, being the keyboardist. Let's not forget the packing and unpacking of instruments, loading and unloading.. Oh boy! Christmas for me is really ACTION PACKED! :)

To celebrate Christmas, I decided to borrow this Snowflake necklace (which I gave to mom for her birthday)! Guess I'll switch back after the new year :)

Here are my Christmas presents in little cute festive felt pouches to give away! Well, I haven't been working lately, so dear people, please bear with my humble gifts!
At YMCA while the rehearsals were going on, I manage to grab some quick shots with cute Jann Jann! What a little cupcake!

Here are the various performances that we had this year:
Singspiration, Tambourine dance, Choir, Kid's Performance, Harp performance with piano accompaniment, and a short message by Pastor Lim Yip Yong, who currently is the Executive Pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Singapore.

After the performances and the celebration, we started exchanging presents amongst ourselves and took many many pictures!

Ok, let me explain this photo! Teehehehe! :) It was really coincidence that Sam and I both wore the same Red and Black Checkered patterned top! He got his at Topman, while I got mine at Isetan departmental store. I mean I would understand that if both of us wore both black or other solid common shirts, the probability of wearing the same color shirt would be higher. But this... this kind of Red and Black Christmassy Checkered Patterned top! Sweet coincidence indeed!

P/s: Remember me posting about how I wanted a bottle of Cranberry Shimmer Body Lotion? Dear got me one waaaaaaayy before Christmas and Meldred gave me another one, and Ruth gave me a traveller bottle of Plum Shimmer Body Lotion! Now I think I can set up my own The Body Shop teehehe! Thanks to all for the presents anyway! Cheers!

Merry Christmas 2008

I can't believe it. Today is Christmas and I am hardly in the mood. Perhaps the 2 exams that I have on the 22nd and 26th December are just total kill joys.

Even so, I am not sure why the festive mood hasn't got into my veins. I did try to walk down Orchard and admire the pretty lights, and even attend Christmas parties and eat to my heart's contend.

Still, nothing.

Thankfully, I did my Christmas shopping waaaaaaaaay early in November and hence, I didn't have to fret about squeezing through the crowds to do my last minute Christmas shopping.

Well, I certainly hope that tonight's Christmas Celebration in church will definitely stir some festive cheer in me! Merry Christmas everyone!

Detonate BBQ 2008

Apart from the brain draining Business Law exam I had yesterday, which I still thank God because everything I tried to memorize just oozed out from my hand, our Detonate ministry had a wonderful time of celebration, food, and fun at Pastor's house!

Well we all know Christmas is the season of joy, love, peace, giving, and endless Christmas parties filled with food. Similarly with the bbq we had, it was really heart warming to just hang out with the youths, feast, and watch our favorite show 小娘惹 together!

What a way to end the year with brothers and sisters in Christ. I'm definitely looking forward to 2009 with Detonate!

Detonate Revival Meeting '08

I cannot put into words how long, action-packed, tiring, yet fruitful day it is for me.

Throughout the whole day, it was lined up with programs back to back, and in between programs I was trying to catch some time to memorize my notes for my exam tomorrow.

Despite the fatigue and anxiety, I was renewed, restored, and reignited through the Detonate Revival Meeting today.

You see for many years, the youth ministry has been planning performances to bring the message of truth and love, and His gospel during this season. But this time round, there wasn't any performance, just an intimate and immense time of worship and outpouring of His presence.

And I loved it. Like how pastor compared this feeling as one playing in the rain and getting soaked, I was lingering in His presence, being filled, restored, freed, renewed, rejuvenated and reignited.

I'm sure this is just the beginning of what's more to come. Till then, I am ready :)

The AB Kind

As I was fretting and stressing myself for my exams next week, I opened a mail that dad retrieved from the letter box just a moment ago. Instantaneously, I smiled:

I remembered as I anxiously await for my results from Bradford, I told dear "I am contented if I got 2 B's this time!"

But the funny thing is that when I saw my results, the first thing I did was run to my brother's room, smiled at him and say "Shit. I got A and B again."

Pffftt! Maybe in the back of my mind I was really expecting 2 A's. Then again, with all greater expectation comes greater disappointment.

So I have learnt my lesson well: Just do your best, don't expect the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Nevertheless, I thank God for my results because I know that many have to re-module because they failed Economics. Phew! Despite my love for Economics, I honestly didn't know that I could get an A for that. What's more, we were warned by my Economics teacher that passing rate isn't high and not many can get an A!

Thank God! Teehehe! :)

The One About The Twitch

I once heard a myth that when your left eye twitches, it means bad luck is coming your way. What happens then, when your right eye twitches?

..

My right eye has been twitching on and off for the past few days. It is irritating, annoying, and there is nothing I can do to stop it! Argh! In such desperate times, it calls for desperate measures and I quickly googled it so see if anyone in the world out there know what is going on.

Interestingly I found this few answers:

1) Magnesium deficiency
2) Lack of sleep
3) Too much caffeine
4) High sodium intake at odd hours
5) Stress

You know what, I gathered that the most probable answer would be STRESS. You see, while majority of the world is happily soaking themselves in the Christmas mood, shopping for Christmas presents, enjoying their holidays, having short getaways and preparing to receive their bonus, I am stuck at home memorizing my notes and studying in preparation for my exams next week.

Can you believe it? My exams are on 22nd and 26th December? TWENTY SECOND and TWENTY SIXTH DECEMBER?!

How on earth am I going to enjoy my Christmas? Tis the season to be jolly? Yeah right.

Wonder Woman

Even as I am a woman myself, I boldly declare that I don't understand myself sometimes :)

They say women are fickle minded, (probably that's why their yes means no), emotional, judgemental, territorial, obsessive, sensitive, and the list goes on.. As much as I would like to defend the female gender and be quick to debate about the wonderful things we women are able to do that men can't, I actually agree with some of the qualities above.

You see, even after 20 years of trying to knowing myself, I still have no clue on why I react, behave, act, and think like the way I do eg; I don't know why I behave the way I do when I upset, or why my brain process the way it does, or why my thoughts are usually negative and glum. So as much as I can, I try to reflect on my own thoughts, my behaviour, trying to break down my sophisticated being.

So here I am, wondering why on earth I was born to be so sophisticated, so hard to please, so easily heart-broken, a cry baby etc.. I think to myself, if only I knew a fraction of myself, then perhaps I can justify the reasons for my actions and behavior, and even better, improve myself by putting changing for the better.

Here am I ranting about the limited knowledge about myself, and it suddenly crossed my mind that my poor boyfriend might have suffered much these years from trying to understand me.

If only I was born with simple wants, simple thoughts, a simple heart, a simple mind, then I would be much more contented and joyful.

Rabbit Orientation: Hayball

Each time I walk past Mocha's cage, I never fail to peep in to see what it is doing. (Till now I have no idea what gender it is!)

Most of the time, it is either sitting at the corner, staring at people, with long ears ever so sensitive to its surrounding noise; like a living antenna searching for frequencies, or jumping about the cage, gnawing its teeth through the cage bars to tell us - "I AM HUNGRY! I WANT FOOD!"

Well now it isn't so bad because mom and I let it out frequently for exercise and play time. So I guess it shouldn't be that bored, I think.

But recently while walking past Mocha's cage, I saw Mocha lying at a corner, eyeballing me, and as usual I called it's name, then made funny noises in attempt to 'communicate' with it, but to no avail.

Then at the corner of the eye I saw that empty metal ball hanging on its cage and I thought "Oh boy I haven't filled that up in a while!"

So instinctively I filled it up, with loads of hay.

You see the thing about that metal ball is that: you put the hay in, the metal ball of hay hangs from the top of the cage, and the rabbit is supposed to get on its hind legs and eat the hay from the metal ball. It guess it works as a form of exercise for the rabbit but in Mocha's case, it fails because Mocha is too tall for that metal ball, and once mocha nudges the metal ball, the hay starts falling through the spaces in between the metal ball.

It is frustrating! I don't even know why I did that in the first place! Probably to put that metal ball into good use? Or it didn't cross my mind that the hay will be dropping all over Mocha, turning it into a living HAYBALL!?
Thankfully, Mocha doesn't really care as long as it has food. I have no idea why hay is so important in a rabbit's diet, but I sure know that hay is expensive. I should have been a farmer, and grow my own hay. Then perhaps, Mocha could eat to it's fill!

This is Mocha caught in action of eating and eating and eating.. non stop. Enough of hay, I think it is exercise time!

Christmas Came Early

You know when someone wants something, they whine, they rant, they talk about it non stop?

Such is with dear when he wanted a pair of gloves to shield his precious fingers from painful raindrops and unpredictable hits of little pebbles and stones while riding on the road.

However, the price was a turnoff even when it was cheaper than the Esprit Jacket that he bought for me! So since he really wanted it so badly, I decided to give him a little surprise by buying this pair of gloves (that he was interested in) for him!

Ha you should have seen the look on his face when he saw it! Flabbergasted, shocked, jaw-dropping, brow-raising.. that look of happiness and joy, PRICELESS.

So it seems that Christmas came early this year, since both dear and I 'exchanged' our Christmas presents already! Or perhaps, this is just a prelude to an entire Christmas festival of presents, joy and love.

Men & Ladies Fellowship 2008

Last saturday, I had a chance to attend the combined Men & Ladies Fellowship held by my church at Raffles Marina.

The itinerary included a session of Financial Planning by Apelles Poh where we could bring along our friends and relatives for this holistic talk, followed by some bowling fun, and finally some extravagant makan! (Makan: the malay meaning for food)

Unfortunately, I totally forgot to bring along my camera (and that doesn't normally happen) and so I had to make do with my 2 megapixel iphone camera. So do bear with the photos!

When you enter Raffles Marina, you will be in awe of their grand decor and furnishing. Wow.
I was really amused by little decorations and ornaments that were displayed. Though I have no idea what they are for, it sure was different from the usual displays like paintings, vases etc..
Ah, the Raffles Marina bell which signifies the official opening of this place. No wonder they enclosed it in a glass box.
Since Christmas is approaching, I saw this Christmas tree by the stairway. At the other grand stairway, I was intrigued by the large statues. Very grand indeed. Before the Financial Planning talk began, we had a wonderful time of Praise and Worship. As you can see, it was full house!
After which, we had some bowling fun! I bet dear was so excited that he quickly rushed to the bowling ally and started getting his shoes, setting up..
Then, more people started flowing in and the game of bowling began. I however, was not interested in bowling so I wandered about the premises with my camera.
Here is the pool that has a backdrop of artificial rocks that create a waterfall effect. Hmm, makes one feel at one with nature. At the corner of my eye, I spotted this stone wall and I was so mesmerized by it because it made me recall of those scenes in Mama Mia!

This few shots were taken in the morning, before the Financial Planning talk began. Since we reached earlier than the bus, we hanged out by the docks, smelt the morning sea breeze and enjoyed the beautiful scenery before dear's phone buzzed. He is a busy man I guess!
Yup that is us in a 'strictly-no-entry' zone tee hehe! Actually, we didn't see the sign but oh well, since we already there, why not hang around a bit more for some pictures?

Here's the dock where sailboats and yachts are berthed. I love the morning sky, especially the puffy clouds.
Correct me if I am wroing, I guess here is where some of the boats are stored, if not fixed? Really clueless about such things.
While walking to the extreme end of the dock, I saw this ship that was larger than the rest!
This is by far my most favorite picture taken of Raffles Marina. It has sort of the East meets West feeling with the beautiful background of the sky and the sea.

Being adventurous and nosey, I went to the highest level of the tower and saw this binoculars! Peeping inside, I was amazed at the magnification of it!
And of course, you can see the overview of everything right at the top!

Finally, we had a heavy and extravagant Chinese lunch at Captain's Table. I think we had 8 dishes of food served? Ha ha it was like a wedding dinner, just that the bride and the groom were missing.

Well, looking forward to the next Men & Ladies Fellowship!

Look What I Have!

Back some weeks ago, I will ranting about how I wanted the Cranberry Shimmer Lotion from The Body shop, and how I wished that it would appear somewhere in the line of Christmas presents this year.

.. and I am glad to say that I GOT IT!

No, I didn't buy it because I haven't been working and part time jobs this month, so I don't have spare cash to indulge in retail therapy for myself.

Yes, I did get as a present from my dearest and it was really a surprise! I really have no idea when he got it, or how! I just know that he handed this brown paper bag, with a red 'The Body Shop" package in it and I was like.. "I knew it!"

Poor thing, dear must have known what a cheapskate I am by frequently pretend to walk into The Body Shop and secretly squeezing some lotion from the test bottle before lathering it onto my skin. I guess that's why he got it for me! Tee hehe!

Lunch Express At Pizza Hut

What a way to end our last day of school for this term, by having a nice meal at Pizza Hut with my fellow classmates/kakis!

Speaking of which, I can't really remember when was the last time I ate at Pizza Hut. In fact, I have been eating more of Canadian Pizza than Pizza hut! I bet you must have too! Who wouldn't, especially with their 2 for 1 deal? Tee hehe!

So anyway, my friends and I were at Vivocity, deciding on where to eat, and like the usual bunch of indecisive us, we spend a great deal walking when Gim Loon brought our attention to the STUDENT DEAL AT PIZZA HUT.

I thought "$6.90 for soup, drink and a main course would be reasonable." Hmm, turns out not to be.

For the soup, we had Chicken Soup, which is their soup of the day (by default I guess). If you decide on Minestrone Soup, you've got to pay $0.50 more.

Anyway, the soup isn't really soup at all. More like chicken drink. Seriously, I remembered that Pizza Hut had thick nice decent Chicken Soup but now, it has degraded to such diluted powdery form of 'soup'. I honestly think that the box of Campbell Instant Chicken Soup tastes much better. For that, I give 1 out of 5!
As for our drinks, all of us chose Root Bear, except Wen Liang, who had Pepsi.
Rachel ordered a side: 4 pc Sweet & Spicy Drumlets, $3.00. Too bad I didn't try it because I was busy snapping away!
Wen Liang ordered a side too: Petite Salad, $1.90. I have never been a salad kind of person so I left this out for tasting.
Finally, my main order: Chicken Neapolitan. Spaghetti served with roasted chicken and mushrooms in tangy Neapolitan sauce

I would give a 2 out of 5 for this, because there were more mushrooms than the already few pieces of meat, and it tasted pretty.. normal. Honestly nothing fantastic.
Rachel's main order was: BBQ Chicken Supreme Pizza Set! After tasting this, I regretted ordering my spaghetti, and wished that I had this for lunch instead!

The pizza is so juicy, with capsicum, chicken, cheese, and topped with BBQ sauce! Really saucy! At least a 3.5 out of 5 for this!

Lastly, Wen Liang's main order was: Chicken Haven. Linguine with roasted chicken, mushrooms and capsicums in creamy Alfredo sauce. Unfortunately I am lactose intolerant and so I gave didn't taste this.

In conclusion, I guess Pizza Hut should be patronized when you are looking for some sort of festive promotion because the money you pay is not justified with the quality of food!

After a heavy lunch, we did some window shopping and I realized that there are Christmas Sales everywhere! Perhaps we should help Singapore's economy by buying more? Hehe!

Poor Gim Loon, had to be my toy model. And this is Elmo putting his hand on Gim Loon's chin saying "Guchee Guchee!"
Gim Loon's funny way of saying Merry Christmas, when that hand gesture simply means Happy Chinese New Year. Anyway Santa must be so frantic, since one of his reindeers is missing!
